Civic chief soughts explanation on appointment of 10 CHB teachers

Aurangabad, June 30:

The Aurangabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) municipal commissioner and administrator A K Pandey today has sought an explanation from the education section over the illegal appointment of 10 teachers on a clock hour basis (CHB) and also proposing further appointments of 10-15 more teachers. The newspaper Aurangabad First has highlighted the illegal appointments made by officials referring to a general body (GB) meeting dated February 9, 2019, in the last week.

Earlier, the education section officials prepared bogus minutes of the GB meeting and appointed 10 CHB teachers from September 16, 2019, to December 22, 2020. The section also planned to further appoint 10-15 more CHB teachers. Referring to the GB's order, the officials succeeded in procuring signatures of the commissioner, additional commissioner, and deputy commissioner in the past.

It is learnt that the general body (GB) meeting was held on February 6, 2019. The corporators of various political parties raised the issue of primary, secondary, and balwadi school teachers in it. There were heated arguments, but the mayor and the commissioner had not issued any order regarding the appointment of teachers. Besides, there is no mention in the minutes of the meeting as well. Taking cognizance of the newspaper's report, Pandey sought an explanation today. He hinted at taking stern action if the reply is found to be unsatisfactory.

Meanwhile, the education section officials are trying to defend themselves saying that many a time the appointments are made on the oral orders of the mayor and the municipal commissioner. However, it is a norm, that the reference of the oral order is mentioned in the office file. In this case, there is no mention of such orders. The sitting education officer underlined that the date of GB could have been mentioned wrongly. However, the officials are unable to tell about the GB meeting that had taken the decision as per their claim. They continue to stress that the appointments are made in the interest of the students.
