CM to inaugurate devp. works to mark Sharad Pawar''s birthday

Aurangabad, Dec 9:

Maharashtra chief minister Uddhav Thackeray will be inaugurating various development works in the city to commemorate the birthday of MP Sharad Pawar, who is the architect of Maha Vikas Aghadi, on December 12.

The CM will perform ''Bhoomipujan'' of various works including a new water supply scheme of Rs 1680 crore, Balasaheb Thackeray Memorial and Safari Park. The Urban Development minister Eknath Shinde will accompany him. All the MLAs and legislators will grace the function organised at Garware Sports Stadium (in Chikalthana MIDC area).

While addressing to the local media persons through a virtual press conference today evening, the guardian minister Subhash Desai apprised about the auspicious programmes to be inaugurated on Saturday. In reply to a question whether the development works are being inaugurated to mark the birthday of Sharad Pawar, he said, " Yes, there is no objection in saying so."

In another question on how the government will make arrangement of funds to complete the water supply scheme, the minister said," The government had made a provision of funds under Nagarothan and Amrut Yojana. Besides, the union government''s fund for the old water supply scheme is also lying deposited. The principal amount, along with interest is now around Rs 500 crore. Hence, we will correspond with the union government to utilise the old fund for this new water supply scheme." The water charges will be unjust and affordable," claimed Desai. The minister also hinted at the virtual inauguration of important roads of valuing Rs 152 crore roads by the CM on occasion.

MLC Ambadas Danve, MLA Pradeep Jaiswal, former mayor Nandkumar Ghodele, Raju Vaidya, Vikas Jain, Narendra Trivedi, city president Vishvanath Swamy, Balasaheb Thorat, Rajendra Janjal and others were present at the briefing.

Features of Thackeray Memorial, Safari Park

Thackeray Memorial will be coming up on seven hectares of land near MGM Hospital, in Cidco N-6 sector. The scrutiny committee of the Public Works Department (PWD) has granted technical approval to the proposal. Safari Park is the second ambitious project of AMC will be developed on 84 acres of land at Mitmita. The AMC will undertake works like construction of the compound wall, installation of gates, preparations of animal enclosures etc. soon.
