Convocation ceremony to be held online 1st time in Bamu’s

Aurangabad, June 24:

Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University (BAMU) will hold an online convocation ceremony on June 25 first time in its history.

The mock drill of the ceremony was conducted on Thursday.

The first convocation day ceremony was held in 1960 in the presence of the then Chief Minister Yashwantrao Chavan.

Later, the ceremony was organised at lawns of the history museum or auditorium regularly.

The administration decided to go for an online ceremony this year compared to Covid 19. The mock drill was organised today as part of the final preparations for the event.

Pro-VC Dr Shyam Shirsath, registrar Dr Jaishree Suryavanshi, deans- Dr Bhalchandra Waykar, Dr Chetna Sonkamble, Dr Walmik Sarwade and Dr Dhanashri Mahajan, director of Board of Examinations and Evaluation Dr Yogesh Patil and various 14 committees members participated in the mock drill.

Vice-chancellor Dr Pramod Yeole said that degree would be awarded to 81,736 candidates on the Convocation Day. There will live streaming of the event through Bamu’s website and its Facebook page.

Governor and chancellor of the universities Bhagat Singh Koshyari will preside over the ceremony. Higher and Technical Education Minister Uday Samant will be the chief guest.

Chairman of All Indian Council for Technical Education Prof Anil Sahasrabudhe will deliver the convocation address. Ph D degree will be conferred on 422 researchers.
