Aurangabad, Feb 21:

The walk-in storage at the Aurangabad deputy health directorate (DHD)has finally been established, and it will now be used to store only the Corona vaccines. These vaccines will be provided not only to the Aurangabad district but also to the entire Marathwada region.

The Corona vaccination drive across the country started on January 16. Presently, the vaccines are stored at the Family Planning Training Centre at Cidco cold storage. The vaccines were stored here for the past few days and were distributed to other places. In the third phase of vaccination, residents above the age of 50 years will be administered vaccines. This phase will start in March and more vaccines will be needed for it. Hence, there was a need for a spacious cold storage to store the vaccines. In this backdrop, the work to establish cold storages at Cantonment and at the deputy health directorate was started.

The cold storage has been established at the DHD on the ground floor with a capacity of 16 cubic meters. The cold storage with walk-in freezer and walk-in cooler at the Family Planning Training Centre has a capacity of 12 cubic meters.

Deputy health director, Dr Swapnil Lale, said only Corona vaccines will be stored in this newly established cold storage. The testing of the storage has been completed and the new stock of the vaccines will be stored here, he said.
