Aurangabad, Sept 30:

Aurangabad Bench of Bombay High Court, comprising Justice Ravindra Ghuge and Justice S G Mehre, has issued orders to reinstate Dr Prashant Amrutkar on all the posts holding in Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University (Bamu).

The university withdrew the research guide of Dr Amrutkar, who was a professor in Political Science Department and dean of the faculty of Humanities, on October 3, 2020.

Later, he was removed from the dean's post and the duration of the lien period was cancelled. The HC quashed all three orders.

According to details, Senator Sanjay Nimbalkar and others accused Dr Amrutkar of demanding money from a Ph D researcher. An audio clip was also viral on social media.

Bamu set up a probe committee. He was removed from all the posts on the basis of the panel’s report. Dr Amrutkar challenged the orders of the university in the HC through senior lawyer Rajendra Deshmukh.

During the hearing, adv Deshmukh argued that the committee formed for the probe was illegal.

“The researcher has not made any complaint. The authenticity of the audio clip was not examined. The matter should have been referred to Grievance Redressal Committee, as per the procedure laid in section 1009 (F)(14) University ordinance,” he argued. Advocates Devang Deshmukh, Kunal Kale and Shriram Deshmukh assisted adv Rajendra. Adv Siddheshwar Thombre appeared for Bamu while adv Siddharth Yavalkar represented the Government.
