CSMC to procure EV cars for its office-bearers

Following Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s appeal to reduce fuel expenses, the municipal corporation has proposed the purchase of new electric vehicles (EVs) for its civic office-bearers. A process has been initiated to procure EVs for the mayor, deputy mayor, and standing committee chairperson. A demo EV car was tested on Wednesday, and the vehicles are expected to be provided to the officials soon.

Response to prime minister’s appeal

The municipal corporation has begun preparations to purchase EV cars worth around Rs 25 lakh each for the three office-bearers.

Mayor Sameer Rajurkar took a test drive by sitting in the driver’s seat and driving it briefly. Deputy mayor Rajendra Janjal, chairperson Anil Makariye, corporator Rajgaurav Wankhede, and others were present in the car drive. The officials expressed satisfaction with the vehicle.

A formal proposal will soon be submitted, followed by a tendering process for the purchase of three EV cars. The Smart City administration had earlier purchased six EV vehicles, which have now been transferred to the municipal corporation and are being used by some officials.

Germany tour cancelled

A planned study tour of four civic officials to Germany between May 15 and 23 has been cancelled following government orders to suspend all such tours. Municipal Commissioner Amol Yedge confirmed to reporters that the Germany visit has been called off accordingly.
