Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: The work of the ‘Medical Hub,’ the State-level medicine depot being set up at Karmad in the district is at the final stage.
“There is a plan to supply medicines throughout the State from this medicine depot,” said Dr Kanchan Wanere, the Deputy Director of Health. Under the National Health Mission, a fund of Rs 30.11 crore was approved in 2019 for the construction of a drug depot and training centre.
Two years later, the construction of a medicine store began at Karmad. After the purchase of drugs from ‘Hafkin’ was started, there was a possibility of winding up this State-level project, but, its construction is being done as planned.
“Currently, the work of express feeder and electrical is in progress. Medicines are being purchased through the Maharashtra Medical Goods Procurement Authority.' The medicines will be stored in the warehouse and from here, medicines will be sent across the State, said Dr Wanere, the Deputy Director of Health.
