Customers forced to buy costly ‘power’ petrol
Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: Petrol pump operators are seen forcing consumers to buy costly ‘power’ petrol at some places at Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar tehsil.
It may be noted that petrol prices are increasing time and again. Customers are being forced to buy a particular petrol instead of regular petrol. This has a financial impact on vehicle owners. Three petrol pump operators in Ladsawangi village, and those on Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar and Jalna Road, are selling ‘power’ petrol instead of regular petrol.
Regular petrol is priced at Rs 105 per litre, while the cost of power petrol is at Rs 113 per litre.
To increase the consumption of 'power' petrol, pump operators are dispensing ‘power’ petrol into vehicles without asking the customers.
This is leading to disputes between customers and owners. In the morning, workers from Ladsawangi rush to Shendra MIDC to fill up with petrol, causing a rush of vehicles at the pump.
Taking advantage of this crowd, pump operators are charging customers for petrol. In case of complaints against pump operators, notice boards with the mobile number of the sales officer have been put up at each pump. However, since customers are not complaining, the arbitrariness of pump operators in rural areas has increased.
