Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: There is a demand to appoint a female candidate to the post of Pro-Vice Chancellor of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University (Bamu).
It may be noted that only four male pro-VCs were appointed since 2018 in the history of Bamu. All of them were male candidates. The post of Pro-VC fell vacant after Dr Walmik Sarwade resigned from the post a few days ago.
City District Congress Committee raised a demand for the appointment of female candidates for the post.
In a statement here on Sunday, the office-bearers stated this demand is in the context of the centenary year of the historic Mahad Chavdar Tale movement. “Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar strongly advocated gender equality and emphasised the active participation of women in education, leadership,” it was mentioned in the memorandum.
