Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar

A spate of road accidents on Thursday across the Mumbai–Nagpur Highway and routes in Kannad, Sillod and Phulambri claimed four lives and left 13 injured. The incidents were largely attributed to overspeeding and reckless driving.

On the Mumbai–Nagpur Highway near Sultansabad, two youths died after an Eicher truck carrying soft drinks rammed into a stationary DJ vehicle. A motorcyclist also died after being hit by a pickup near Pathri on the Phulambri- Sillod road. At Farshi Phata, an Eicher driver was killed when a speeding motorcycle hit him. On the Kannad- Pishor route, a triple-bike crash injured seven, while in Ajintha Ghat, a reportedly drunk driver fell into a valley along with a Hyva truck. In another incident at Farshi Phata on the Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar–Jalgaon highway, Balasaheb Kankar (60) died on the spot after a speeding motorcycle hit him while he had stepped out of his parked vehicle. The rider, Raj Darak (20), was seriously injured and is undergoing treatment. Wadod Bazar police have registered an accidental death case.
