Police officials summoned a group of transgender persons and individuals allegedly posing as transgender persons to the Commissionerate after complaints of indecent behaviour and demanding money from people during late-night hours surfaced again in the city.

The action follows the April 15 murder of an advocate in the Gandheli Shivar area near Beed Bypass, in which police found the involvement of a gang allegedly disguising themselves in sarees as transgender persons for robbery. Following the incident, Police Commissioner Pravin Pawar had issued prohibitory orders restricting gatherings of transgender persons and banning forcible money collection. However, police said such activities were again reported from areas including Beed Bypass, the railway station vicinity, AS Club Chowk, Solapur-Dhule highway and Waluj industrial area. A few days ago, a Crime Branch patrol team allegedly found some individuals misbehaving and demanding money from people at night. Following the incident, some members of the group reportedly warned of protests against police action. Crime branch police inspector Gajanan Kalyankar later called them to the commissionerate and warned them against indecent or unlawful activities in public places. Police also issued notices and took preventive action before releasing them.
