An elderly homeowner faced distress as his tenant's family allegedly locked him inside his own house twice after refusing to vacate the premises. The Cidco police have registered a case against the tenant, Motiram Namdev Thore, his wife Surekha, and their children for harassment and illegal confinement.
Diljitsingh Arora (81), a retired Mahavitaran employee, rented out a four-room house in N-5 to Thore in January 2024 under an 11-month agreement for Rs 20,000 per month. However, Thore stopped paying rent from March 2024 and refused to renew the contract. When asked to vacate, he allegedly turned hostile, issuing threats to Arora. The situation escalated on March 3 when Thore reportedly broke the main door lock and twice locked Arora inside his own home, leaving him in distress. Other tenants in the building also expressed concern over the disruptive behavior. Unable to bear the harassment any longer, Arora approached the Cidco police station and lodged a formal complaint. Authorities have since registered a case against Thore and his family, initiating legal action.
