Aurangabad, July 22:

It may be noted that a gap of 84 days has to be maintained between first and second doses of the Covid-19 vaccine, as per the health section. However, the elderly persons are impatiently waiting to get their second dose, even after a gap of 100 days from the date of the first dose of Covishield. They grieved that they are unable to stand for hours in long queues formed in front of the vaccination centres to obtain the token. As a result, they are lagging behind.

The second dose of vaccine is made available through on-the-spot registration on CoWin App. Nowadays, there is an acute shortage of vaccines. Hence the vaccination centres offer vaccines to the limited number of persons. Hence, thousands of citizens desirous to have the second dose, form queues since early morning (5.30 am), but the distribution of coupons is limited (for eg: if 200 persons are waiting and 150 coupons are distributed, then the remaining 50 had to return empty-handed after wasting hours in standing the long queues.). Hence they had to try again next time. The people also grieved that there are no separate queues for senior citizens at the vaccination centres. As a result, many of the senior citizens are waiting for their second dose even after a gap of 100 days.

Meanwhile, a demand to provide the first dose through on-the-spot registration (not prior) is gearing up. One Sandeep Jadhav of Cidco pointed out that he was disappointed when the staff told him to register online (on Cowin App) for the first dose at Cidco N-8 Health Centre. It is a tedious task. Hence the first dose of vaccine should be provided through on-the-spot registration, he said.
