Panic broke out at the bus stand on Wednesday evening around 5 pm after the engine of a faulty “Smart City bus” suddenly exploded. Thick smoke billowed out of the bus, creating fear in the area. Fortunately, as the bus was parked for repairs and had no passengers inside, a major tragedy was averted.

According to information received, the municipal city bus operating on the Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar–Ellora route had developed a fault and was undergoing repairs when the engine suddenly exploded with a loud noise. Ellora police patil Ramesh Dhivre said the incident occurred due to a technical fault during repair work.

With rising temperatures, incidents of city buses breaking down have increased, causing inconvenience to passengers. There is now a growing demand for regular inspection and proper maintenance of city buses.
