Aurangabad, Nov 18:

Former union Minister Jaisinghrao Gaikwad who was upset on not getting party’s ticket resigned from BJP membership on Tuesday. Despite the instructions from the party to file nomination papers, he submitted filed it. Party leaders were not happy with this, and no one from the party turned up to persuade him.A team of NCP was after Gaikwad since when he filed nomination papers.

He was hoping to get the response from BJP, but, it did not happen. MP Dr Bhagwat Karad and MLA Atul Save held talks with him, but, the former union Minister was not satisfied over it. There is speculation about his joining NCP. The NCP leaders met him and persuaded him. After the withdrawal of nomination papers, Gaikwad said that he would canvass for NCP candidate Satish Chavan. However, he was mum on joining it.

MP Dr Bhagwat Karad said that BJP got him elected as legislator twice and made him minister in Central Government.

“The party has some parameters while giving a ticket. It is expected that senior leaders would help the candidate whose name was announced by the party.

He (Gaikwad) says that he expanded the party. How is right to leave the party for one’s interest. Even after a meeting with the party’s State unit president, he left the party. It will not have any effect. Shirish Boralkar was election chief when Gaikwad was contesting Graduates Constituency polls. So, the latter should have kept in mind. Should he seek ticket for Graduates elections at this age? He was asked not to file nomination papers, yet he did it,” he added.
