Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar:
To reduce dependence on LPG in the railway catering system, instructions have been issued to increase the use of microwave ovens and induction stoves. Induction-based cooking will soon be introduced at the canteens and food tracks at Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar railway station as well. This move is likely to lead to an increase in the prices of various food items.
At present, commercial LPG cylinders are used for cooking at the station’s canteens and food tracks. Alternative electric appliances will soon be introduced. However, the use of such equipment is expected to change the cost structure. Cooking on appliances such as microwave ovens and induction stoves may increase electricity expenses as well as the cost of installing the necessary equipment. As a result, there are concerns that the prices of tea, snacks and other food items may rise.
Demand for price revision
Currently, cooking is carried out using gas cylinders, but induction stoves will soon be introduced. The cost of procuring cylinders has already increased. Using induction stoves will lead to higher electricity bills. However, railway authorities have instructed that the prices of food items should not be increased. Despite this, we will submit a proposal seeking a price revision, said food track-operators at the railway station.
