The city witnessed four fire incidents on Monday, three of them reported from the Waluj area. A bakery-dairy shop and a pan shop near Pune Highway at Tantamukti Kamani caught fire, causing major damage. Another blaze was triggered after an electrical line explosion in the Waluj industrial area, while a garbage heap in Omsainagar, Ranjangaon Shempunji also caught fire. Prompt action by the Waluj fire brigade prevented major accidents.
Shafeeq Ibrahim Shaikh, owner of the bakery-dairy shop, was alerted by passersby around 2 am. Flames quickly spread to the nearby pan shop owned by Sheikh Ashfaq. Firefighters from Garware Company and MIDC, assisted by local residents, brought the blaze under control. Bakery inventory, a refrigerator, furniture, and pan shop materials were destroyed in the fire. The exact cause of the blaze is under investigation. Gram revenue officer Manisha Kadam and revenue clerk Amol Khairnar visited the spot and surveyed the damage.

At the Waluj substation near Starlight Company, a sudden pressure surge caused a conductor to explode and fall onto the road, sparking a fire. The fire brigade controlled the blaze promptly, while Mahavitaran assistant engineer V.K. Salve cut off the power supply, averting a major accident.

In Omsainagar, Ranjangaon Shempunji, a garbage heap along the roadside caught fire, spreading smoke across the area and creating panic among residents. Firefighters quickly controlled the fire using water and powder. Though the incidents caused temporary unrest, timely firefighting prevented further escalation.

Fire breaks out at Mandap Decoration Material on Terrace
A fire broke out at 1.04 pm on the terrace of a building in the Chhavani vegetable daily market area, where mandap decoration material belonging to Farroque Khan was stored. Material worth Rs 30,000 to Rs 40,000 was destroyed in the blaze, officials said. The fire brigade rushed to the spot and brought the fire under control, said on-duty fire officer Dipraj Gangawane.
