Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar

Bihar was shaken on May 11 by a horrific murder case in which a mother, father, and two young children were dismembered into 23 pieces and their body parts thrown into a river in sacks. Shockingly, a youth from Kannad was found to be involved in this brutal killing along with two brothers from the same family. At the request of Bihar Police, the City Crime Branch tracked them down and arrested them from Jadhavwadi, handing them over to Ramgarh Police late Sunday night.

The arrested accused are Deepak Rajput (27, native of Nachanvel, Kannad, currently residing in Jadhavwadi) and Gautam alias Rahul Gupta Karampal Gupta (22, native of Ramgarh, Dahrak, Kaimur district, Bihar). On May 10, human body parts were found in two abandoned suitcases under a bridge over the Durgavati River on the Mohania-Ramgarh route in Bihar. On May 12, more body parts were recovered from two sacks near Abhaydey village. Investigation confirmed the remains belonged to Krishna Murari Gupta of Dahrak village, Ramgarh, his wife Durgesh Kumari, and their two young children. Police found that disputes were frequent in the Gupta family. On May 5, Krishna Murari had an argument with his mother, who then called her younger son Vikas Gupta, working at Shendra Industrial Estate in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar. Vikas brought along his colleague and friend Deepak Rajput and his younger brother Rahul alias Gautam.

Charged with murder and destruction of evidence

On May 7, Rahul, Vikas, and Deepak murdered Krishna Murari, stabbed his fleeing wife to death, and beheaded their two children returning from school all in front of Vikas and Rahul's mother and Vikas's wife. They then staged a disappearance, cut all four bodies into 23 pieces, and dumped them at different locations.

Returned to Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar After the Murder

Bihar police's SIT identified the victims and arrested Vikas Gupta. Questioning revealed that Deepak and Rahul had fled back to Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar. Ramgarh's SP contacted Police Commissioner Pravin Pawar for help, who directed Senior Inspector Gajanan Kalyankar and police sub-inspector Pravin Wagh to track the accused.

Arrested Sunday Night

Acting on a tip that both were near Sharad Tea Stall in Jadhavwadi, officers Pradeep Dandwate, Yogesh Navsare, Vijay Nikam, Jalinder Gore, Rahul Bangale, and Tatrao Shingare arrested both on the spot. Bihar Police arrived shortly after and took custody. Deepak, originally from Kannad, had lived in the city for work and befriended Vikas and Rahul five years ago at their workplace. That friendship ultimately drove him to participate in this cold-blooded crime. His mother works at a local mess in Jadhavwadi.
