Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar:
This year, the spirit of Dhulivandan coloured every corner of the city, from narrow lanes to hotels, lawns and marriage halls. Along with traditional gulal, theme-based Holi parties, game zones, rain dance setups and live DJ music gave the festival a high-profile touch, especially among the youth.
From early morning, children were seen spraying colours with water guns, while others playfully splashed coloured water using containers. In housing societies, residents preferred herbal colours and greeted one another with gulal. Many societies organised music and dance sessions, with residents dancing and even playing garba. Youth groups roamed areas such as Gulmandi, Aurangpura, Jawahar Colony, Pundliknagar and Cidco-Hudco, calling friends out of their homes and drenching them in colours. In several localities, festive meals were also arranged after the celebrations. Public representatives participated in the festivities, further boosting the enthusiasm.
Rain dance to DJ beats
Several organisers hosted professional Holi events at marriage halls and hotel lawns, creating family-friendly zones with decorative entrances, selfie points and safe environments. Natural colours were promoted at many venues. Young men and women danced to DJ music under artificial rain showers, while live food stalls catered to revellers. The celebrations continued in full swing until around 3 pm.
Dhol-tasha and vibrant processions
The old city witnessed the most energetic celebrations. A grand ‘Rangada’ procession began from the Sansthan Ganpati temple at Rajabazar, with eight tractors participating. Municipal water tankers accompanied the procession, and drums filled with coloured water were placed on tractors. Youth sprayed colours in all directions, while a statue of Lord Krishna attracted attention. As the procession passed through Sarafa Road, City Chowk, Phool Bazaar, Kasari Bazaar Road, Machli Khadak, Supari Hanuman Road and Gulmandi, residents showered colours from balconies. The procession concluded around 2 pm.
