Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar:
The Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) has taken a major leap in maternal healthcare. The newly renovated maternity ward, upgraded with a fund of Rs 12 crore, now rivals private hospitals in terms of facilities, cleanliness, and technical standards. With modern equipment, a trained medical team, and a patient-centric system, women from all sections can now access high-quality care.
The maternity department at GMCH handles around 50 to 70 deliveries every 24 hours. The renovated labour room can now accommodate up to 20 deliveries simultaneously. Advanced equipment, including a sonography machine, has been installed. The renovation is not merely cosmetic but has significantly enhanced efficiency. New systems have been put in place prioritising the safety of both mother and child during delivery.
Inauguration on May 1
Guardian minister Sanjay Shirsat facilitated a fund of Rs 12.10 crore for the renovation of the labour room, making it well-equipped. Along with this, ‘OT-3’ has also been renovated. The labour room and OT-3 will be inaugurated on May 1 in the presence of minister Atul Save and other public representatives, informed dean Dr Shivaji Sukre.
