Aurangabad, Dec 15:

Strict restrictions on wedding ceremonies have lowered down the celebrations to a few relatives and friends. Therefore, there is a growing trend of digital online wedding invitations for ceremonies and receptions. Photo invitations, video invitations and wedding ecard invitations are catching trends.

The lockdown during the corona period affected functions and ceremonies. There are still restrictions on public events due to fears of group infection. Only 50 people are allowed at the wedding ceremony. Similarly to avoid personal contact and also maintain social distancing, many brides and grooms are turning towards digital invitations. Non conventional wedding cards are becoming more and more prevalent. People are preferring to use digital cards, instead of traditional paper cards to ease the problem of distributing the cards. Similarly digital invitations can be sent in form of a photo, video invitation, wedding ecard invitation, short animated video in GIF format with the wedding details are sent directly on WhatsApp. The photo invitation consists of the bride and groom''s photos, name, wedding date and venue. Video invitations consisting of both bride and groom are shared on social media and are being kept on status. This has also reduced the risk of corona infection by avoiding direct visits. Forwarding these invitations to friends, relatives WhatsApp groups is saving time and money.

Lost business worth lakhs of rupees

The corona crisis has taken a heavy toll on the printing business. The printing industry''s year-round planning depends on the wedding season. But now there are restrictions on weddings. So people who print 1,000 to 2,000 wedding cards are now demanding only 10 to 50 cards. As a result, the business of printing wedding cards worth lakhs of rupees has sunk. However, people in rural areas still prefer to print wedding invitations, said Adarsh Patil, digital printers, Aurangpura.
