Aurangabad, July 5:

In response to public interest litigation (PIL) filed in connection with the supply of contaminated and impure water to Khuldabad and posing a health threat to the residents, the Aurangabad Bench of Bombay High Court comprising Justice S V Gangapurwala and Justice R N Ladda has ordered to issue notices to the state's chief secretary, secretary (water supply and sanitation department), divisional commissioner, district collector and president of Khuldabad Municipal Council (KMC). The next hearing will be held on August 13.

As reported earlier, the residents had made several complaints about the contaminated supply of drinking water in taps to the KMC and other senior officials. The supply of impure water was posing a health threat to the residents for the past several months. Lastly, Shaikh Abdul Majeed Abdul Mahemood through Adv Suraj Gothwal filed a PIL in the High Court. Accordingly, the bench issued the above order. Adv Gothwal was assisted by Adv Rupali Gothwal (Rajput) and Adv Saisagar Ambilwade.
