The Aurangabad bench of bombay high court has again pulled up the state government over rising injuries and deaths linked to nylon manja, directing it to submit a concrete action report instead of listing preventive steps.

A bench of Justice Vibha Kankanwadi and Justice Hiten Wenegaonkar has also ordered the state to frame a compensation policy within one month for victims. The next hearing in the suo motu PIL is scheduled for April 15, 2026.

The court made it clear that policy-level claims are not enough, seeking detailed data on cases registered, seizures made, and action against accused. It expressed dissatisfaction over the lack of specifics despite the state citing ongoing action.

Key measures highlighted:

• A state-level task force has been formed, with nodal officers in each district; police warned of action for negligence.

• The cyber cell has issued takedown notices to platforms like Amazon, Flipkart, Meesho, Facebook, and Instagram to curb online sales.

• Municipal bodies have been directed to submit consolidated action reports, with the court noting delays.

The bench stressed accountability and measurable enforcement, not just assurances.
