Hospital fined Rs 25k for dumping medical waste in ghantagadi
Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: A private hospital was fined Rs 25,000 on Wednesday after it was found dumping medical waste into a ghantagadi (garbage collection vehicle). It was observed that Mauli Hospital, located in Chaitanya Housing Society opposite Gajanan Maharaj Temple, had mixed medical waste with general waste.
Following instructions from deputy commissioner Nandkishore Bhombe, the hospital was penalised Rs 25,000 for negligence. The action was taken after sanitation inspectors noticed the violation. The enforcement team included sanitation inspector Om Bade, Nagrik Mitra Pathak members Raosaheb Idhate and Santosh Navgire. The hospital was strictly warned and instructed to ensure that medical waste is disposed of only through authorised bio-waste collection vehicles.
