Aurangabad, Jan 8:

Thieves burgled house of a retired head constable, who with family had gone to attend a marriage ceremony out of station, and made off with gold jewellery and Rs 15,000 cash. The incident came to the fore on Friday morning. The police have opined that the theft has been committed by some acquaintance. The Cidco police and crime branch on receiving the information rushed to the spot for inspection.

Police said, retired head constable Dagdu Pandu Chaunde (71, Sudarshannagar, Hudco), along with his family had gone to Mohodi in Kannad tehsil to attend a marriage ceremony on Wednesday morning. His tenant today morning noticed that the door of Chaunde’s house was open and the lock was broken. He informed about it to Cidco police. A dog squad and crime branch officers along with the Cidco police rushed to the spot. The thieves stole a gold chain and Rs 15,000 cash from the house. A case has been registered at the Cidco police station.
