Idol of Sansthan Ganpati comes to original form after 100 years

Aurangabad, June 2:

Ganesh devotees on Wednesday, got to see the original form of the idol of Sansthan Ganpati Gramdaivat of Aurangabad city. The four arms, legs, and modak of the idol are all clearly visible now. The senior members here said that the original form of the Sansthan Ganpati idol came to be seen after 100 years.

It is the tradition of the city to start the procession on any auspicious occasion from Sansthan Ganpati in Rajabazar. The tradition of many decades continues to this day. The idol of Lord Ganesha was established 350 years ago. When Lokmanya Bal Gangadhar Tilak came to the city, he used to carry out further work only after taking the darshan of Sansthan Ganpati. Shiv Sena supremo Balasaheb Thackeray also used to visit Sansthan Ganpati and then hold meetings. In the last 100 years, a thick layer of vermilion (Shendur) had accumulated on this idol and had suppressed the original form of the idol. It was decided to chemical coat 'Vajralep', the idol. Last month, Mohan Pimpalkhedkar Guruji started Vajralep. When one and a half sacks of Shendur was removed from the idol and the original form of Sansthan Ganpati came to the fore.

The idol was polished with a coating of shendur. Trustee Saubhagchand Chordia, Nandkumar Ghodele, Praful Malani, Sunil Ajmera, Santosh Chichani and others were present.

Pranapratishtha ceremony started on Wednesday. The Pranpratishtha and Purnahuti ceremony will be held on Friday. From the same day, devotees will be able to see the original idol of lord Ganesh.
