Inauguration of food park in Bidkin DMIC delayed
Aurangabad, Dec 5: New companies are being attracted in the Shendra phase of the Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor (DMIC). While more than 53 plots have been taken up by various companies so far, no industry has been attracted to the Bidkin phase so the second phase of land acquisition has stalled. It is noteworthy that the state government has announced to start a food park on 200 acres in this area. But the inauguration was delayed due to corona.
The investments in the centre''s ambitious Shendra-Bidkin DMIC project have been affected by the pandemic. Till date, 2,000 acres of land has been acquired in Shendra and 8,000 acres in Bidkin. Currently, the infrastructure work in the Bidkin phase has been completed. However, this phase is waiting for new industries. According to officials, the next phase of work will not start unless there is a major industrial investment in the area. Similarly, 200 acres of land in the area will be allotted for a food park. The chief minister Uddhav Thackeray has announced that the project will be inaugurated in January. Industry minister Subhash Desai had recently reviewed the work of the food park, but the state is still reeling under the corona pandemic. Therefore, the inauguration is said to be stalled at present.
Out of this, Shendra is equipped with all the amenities. In all, 62 plots have been distributed in the Auric city. At present 9 companies have started production. Besides, construction work of 24 companies is underway and the work of some of these companies is in the final stage. Foreign companies like Hyosung, Perkins and Russia''s steel giant NLMK steel have also set up their units in Shendra.
