Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar:

Touching the Mangalsutra of Hindu women reflects administrative high-handedness. The Hindu Janajagruti Samiti on Tuesday warned that the guilty officials who insulted Hindu religious sentiments under the pretext of security checks must be immediately suspended and criminal cases should be registered against them.

The warning was issued during a protest held in front of the district collector’s office on Tuesday, February 10 under the leadership of Hindu Janajagruti Samiti coordinator Priyanka Lone. The agitation was organised to protest an incident on February 8 at a city examination centre, where women candidates appearing for the CTET examination were allegedly forced to remove their Mangalsutras and jewellery.

Following sloganeering against the administration, a memorandum was submitted to the district collector. Women activists, including Sarika Kolte of Shivpratishthan Hindustan and Shruti Sirsat of the Ranragini wing, were present.
