Jewellery shop worker held for Rs 40.18 L cheating

Aurangabad, June 15:

Amarchand Premchand Soni (Pandariba) was a worker at M/S Lalchand Mangaldas Soni Gems and Jewellers Pvt Ltd (LMS) at Shriniketan Colony, was arrested for cheating to shop owners at Rs 40.18 lakh.

According to details, the complainant Uday Haridas Soni (Samarthnagar), owns the gems and jewellery shop.

The father of the accused used to work in the same shop as a worker.

Amarchand Soni joined the work in 1994. The shop owner used to give Amarchand gold block to prepare ornaments.

The shop owner used to pay charges for preparing the ornaments.

There was no calculation of dealing between the complainant and the accused was done since April 1, 2020.

Uday Soni called up Amarchand in March seeking details of gold block given to him since April 1,2020. The accused informed Uday that he would give details of gold blocks when he returns to the city.

The complainant had given him 3.279 kg gold block between April 1,2020 and June 3, 2021.

Of the total, the accused had returned ornaments weighing 2.433 kg to the shop owner. The accused had not given details of gold (845 gms) worth Rs 40.18 lakh.

Amarchand, who arrived here eight days ago informed the shop owner that he had no gold now.

He confessed that he paid borrowed money by selling gold and expressed his inability to return the gold to the shop owner.

Uday Soni lodged a complaint with Kranti Chowk Police Station on Tuesday about cheating done by Amarchand.

A case was registered and police arrested the accused. PSI Sandeep Shinde, under the guidance of Police inspector Dr G H Darade is on the case.
