Kalpana Kharat moves HC for anticipatory bail

Kalpana Kharat, wife of alleged godman Ashok Kharat of Sinnar, approached the Aurangabad bench of the Bombay High Court on Wednesday seeking anticipatory bail.

Cases of cheating and illegal moneylending have been registered against her at the Shirdi police station. Earlier, the Rahata court had rejected her anticipatory bail plea in the same matter. According to chief public prosecutor Amarjitsingh Girase, the application has been filed and the bench has issued notice in the case.

Apart from Ashok Kharat, his wife is also facing cases in Shirdi police station related to alleged financial and land transaction frauds in Nashik district as well as Ahilyanagar.
