A life-term convict ended his life inside Harsul Jail, just a month after being sentenced for murdering his wife. The shocking incident came to light around 6 am on Saturday when fellow inmates discovered his body.
The susidal has been identified as Raju Piraji Avchar (29, Jintur parbhini). On March 13, 2023, Avchar strangled his wife with a waist belt during a dispute over feeding their child milk. Police arrested him soon after, and a Parbhani District Sessions Court sentenced him to life imprisonment on January 13, 2025.

Investigation Underway
Jail officials found Avchar hanging from a pipe in the toilet, using a bedsheet torn into strips. The incident raised concerns about inmate supervision and mental health support in prisons. API Sachin Sadafule from Harsul Police Station is leading the investigation to determine if any negligence contributed to the suicide.
