Aurangabad, May 23:

The residents are breaching the lockdown rules imposed to stop the spread of the Corona pandemic in the city and in the Waluj area. The traders are allowed to keep the essential commodities shops open between 7 am and 11 am but the traders are breaching the rules. The administration has taken action against more than 150 such traders and recovered more than Rs 3 lakh fine in the past 35 days. At many places, the shops were open from back side. Hence, district collector Sunil Chavan and commissioner of Police Dr Nikhil Gupta ordered to take action at such places. Meanwhile, the municipal commissioner Astik Kumar Pandey also visited several places in the city and took action of sealing the shops for breaching the rules.

The city traders are upset with this action while Shiv Sena and AIMIM have also expressed dissatisfaction over it. Shiv Sena leader Chandrakant Khaire has submitted a memorandum to the district collector in this regard while AIMIM MP Imtiyaaz Jaleel has jolted the administration through the social media. He stated to stop injustice towards traders and poor people. He also threatened that all the shops will be opened if the action is not withdrawn. The youths are committing suicides due to financial crisis while the small traders are facing hardship. Hence, to condemn it he announced to boycott the administrative meeting to be held on Monday instead he will visit and console the family members of the deceased rickshaw driver at Rajeev Gandhinagar who committed suicide.

In the memorandum, Khaire mentioned that the image of the state government is tarnished due to the unnecessary action. It is not appropriate to take action against the shops without any inquiry. Action should be taken after hearing the say of the traders, he stated.
