Maratha community students be given admissions to medical as supernumerary quota

Aurangabad, Nov 8:

A meeting of aspirants of medical and their parents, belonging to Maratha community, was held at Big Bazaar, Jalna Road on Sunday.

The result of the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) was declared 25 days ago. The admission process for medical courses has already begun. The students of the community were confused about admission and reservation.

The objective of the meeting was to clear confusion about medical admission as a stay was given on Maratha reservation and what stand should be taken as a community for students benefit. Vinod Patil who convened the meeting made several demands with the State Government including students from Maratha community should be accommodated in medical colleges of the State as the supernumerary quota for this year due to stay on Maratha reservation.

“The Government should admit students in medical colleges as a special case. It should control the quota of private medical colleges and deemed universities to accommodate the students. The Government should pay these students fees until reservation issue is resolved,” he said.

Patil demanded that the last date of online registration for the admission should be extended. The last date is November 12.

The other demands included duration of 30 to 90 days should be given for the submission of EWS certificate, the facility pay fee under EBC scheme should be given on the line of other categories.

Abhijit Deshmukh, Dr Vivek Deshmukh, Prashant Bansod, Bhausaheb Tarmade, Samadhan Solunke, Balasaheb Autade, Prashant Shelke, Sudhakar Kapre and others guided the participants.

Vinod Patil advised students to pay attention to the admission process as there various organisations to fight for Maratha reservation. He announced that a group was set up to clear doubts of students about the admission process.
