Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar:

Despite a request made by the mayor Sameer Rajurkar to remove illegal hoardings on priority, in the coordination committee meeting held in connection with the Shiv Jayanti, on Monday, the ward officers of the municipal corporation have failed to implement a drive to remove illegal hoardings from the city today.

In the meeting the mayor by folding hands had requested the municipal commissioner and the commissioner of police to remove all the illegal hoardings including the ones featuring his photographs.

Earlier, the responsibility of removing the illegal hoardings was with the anti-encroachment squad, which was later on, handed over to the respective ward officers. However, neither the 10 ward officers nor their respective staff dared to implement the drive and remove the hoardings in their respective jurisdictions on Tuesday.

At Monday’s meeting, the municipal commissioner G Sreekanth had apprised about the hurdles and threats received by the civic staff while taking action. The High Court had imposed a ban on illegal hoardings displays at various squares and circles defacing the beauty of the city.

All Illegal Hoardings to Be Removed Within Two Days

The municipal commissioner G Sreekanth said, “All unauthorised hoardings in the city will be removed by Wednesday and Thursday. Due to a water supply meeting on Tuesday, a review of various development works, and other important tasks, the concerned officials could not be issued instructions earlier. However, all hoardings will be removed within these two days. Officials who fail to comply will face strict action.”
