Mega tree plantation drive in region on June 5

Aurangabad, June 2:

On account of World Environment Day, the local administration has planned to undertake a mega tree plantation drive in each village and town of Marathwada, on June 5. The drive will invite public representatives, office-bearers, and the local people, to implement the drive successfully. The target is to plant three saplings per person in the village and the town.

Earlier, the divisional commissioner Sunil Kendrekar had instructed all the district collectors, chief executive officers, chief officers, municipal commissioners, chief conservator of forest (territorial range), and forest guards to implement the drive effectively on a grand scale.

Meanwhile, each citizen staying in either rural or urban areas has been appealed to plant saplings at his/her convenience in the available open spaces, farms, road dividers, or on the banks of the canals, rivers, nullahs, etc. Kendrekar has underlined the development of dense green cover in the region is the need of the hour.
