MIT hospital marks world cancer day with awareness programmes

MIT hospital organised various programmes on the occasion of World Cancer Day, observed on February 4, with this year’s theme ‘united by unique’, to create awareness about cancer prevention, diagnosis and treatment.

The day began with doctors and staff releasing blue and orange balloons, conveying wishes for a healthy life for all. Guidance sessions were held for patients and their relatives at the hospital by the director of MIT hospital,Dr Sunil Deshpande, cancer surgeon, Dr Navin Kasliwal, oncologist, Dr Ketan Shirsath and gynaecological cancer specialist, Dr Shilpi Verma. Cancer survivors also shared their experiences and expressed gratitude to the doctors and the hospital.

An awareness session was conducted for women employees at a private bank, focusing on the rising incidence of breast cancer and cervical cancer. The session covered symptoms, diagnosis, treatment and preventive care.

Dr Sunil Deshpande said that MIT hospital provides affordable cancer diagnosis and treatment with expert doctors and trained nursing staff, with all facilities for women available under one roof.

Also present were ophthalmologist , Dr Avinash Nevaskar, chest physician, Dr Akash Gore and manager of MIT hospital, Sachin Mokashi. The programme was anchored and concluded with a vote of thanks by PRO, Sonali Kandharkar.
