Aurangabad, Feb 4:

The Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) on Thursday afternoon staged a protest by blocking the vehicle of Shiv Sena leader and former MP Chandrakant Khaire at Kranti Chowk and throwing pamphlets at him, demanding renaming the city to Sambhajinagar.

The MNS had given an ultimatum that the district should be renamed as Sambhajinagar by January 26. After that, the organization had warned to intensify the agitation. According to the ultimatum, on Thursday, MNS district president Suhas Dashrathe, city president Satnam Gulati, Sandeep Kulkarni and others stopped Khaire's vehicle at Kranti Chowk and threw pamphlets at him. Khaire did not take this incident seriously as Dashrathe and the office bearers were past Shiv Sainiks. But as soon as the MNS started shouted slogans, Khaire became aggressive and had a heated exchange with Dashrathe. This created tension for a while. Police rushed to the spot.
