Aurangabad, Feb 9:

Mobile science van which was purchased at the cost of Rs 60 lakh is lying idle in Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University (Bamu) for the past few months.

The then vice-chancellor Dr Vijay Pandharipande had decided to purchase mobile science van in 2014 to create interest in science among students. The National Council of Science Museum of Kolkata sent a quotation of Rs 60 lakh including 20 lakh for equipment.

The university started seeking fund from the State Government. The tenure of Dr Pandharipande was over, and Dr B A Chopade took charge of the post in 2015. Bamu received Rs 40 lakh from the Manav Vikas Mission while it provided remaining Rs 20 lakh. In the beginning, the van was taken up to Sillod. Later, it remained idle on the campus.
