MSEDCL gives sop of instalments to customers

Aurangabad, Nov 19: The electricity consumers are astonished over the huge bills received from the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Ltd (MSEDCL) during the lockdown period. They are demanded relaxation in the bills now. However, the company has refused to reduce the bills and claimed that the bills are correct. Moreover, the company has initiated rigorous recovery of the bills and given sop to the customers to pay the bills in instalments.

The MSEDCL has not taken the meter reading of the customers during the lockdown period and issued enormous average bills. Many of the customers have paid these bills. However, when the actual reading was taken after the lockdown, the customers'' complaints of recovering more amount increased. It was observed that no planning was done while issuing the average bills to the customers. Now, the consumers are thronging the electricity bill centers to reduce the bill amount. However, the company claims that the bills are correct, and they can pay it by instalments. Moreover, many consumers, in the hope of getting relaxation of the lockdown period, have not paid the bills for the past seven months. However, the company is recovering interest on the pending bill amount now.

Meanwhile, MSEDCL chief engineer Bhujang Khandare said, the complaint of each customer is being redressed. They are also given facilities to pay the bills while their complaints are listened through the One day One ward campaign, he said.
