Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: The Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) is taking a heavy hit due to rising diesel prices, with the daily fuel expenditure of the Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar division now reaching Rs 31 lakh.
The fuel price hike has added a full Rs 1 lakh to MSRTC's daily expenses, further increasing financial strain.
With a fleet of 550 buses in the Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar division operating on various routes every day, fuel costs are considered a major expenditure factor. The Rs 3 per litre increase in diesel prices has now driven up the overall fuel bill.
Signs are emerging that rising fuel costs will pose a fresh challenge for ST going forward. The increase in fuel expenditure is also likely to impact maintenance, repairs, and other operational costs in the future. Divisional Controller Pramod Nehul confirmed that the daily fuel expenditure has risen by Rs 1 lakh.
