Aurangabad, April 26:

“Students used to get an education with dedication in Gurukul system earlier. The New Education Policy (NEP) is a milestone during the last 34 years. In the NEP, there are some provisions for backward, tribal and other categories. However, the provisions which are on papers should turn into reality,” said Dr Manikrao Salunkhe, noted educationist.

He was speaking in a lecture hosted on ‘Justice and Inclusive Education by Loksamvad Foundation on Sunday.

Foundation president Dr Rajesh Karpe presided over the programme. Dr Manikrao Salunkhe said that students do not get an education on campus now because of COVID situation.

“Students from rural areas are facing many problems due to insufficient technological resources. This will result in a disparity in society,” he lamented.

He said that there is special policy to provide quality education to poor students at a time when there is privatisation on a high level in the education field,” he added.

Dr Rajesh Karpe, Dr Satish Badve, joint director of Technical Education Dr Mahesh Shivankar, former VC Dr B A Chopde were present.
