Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar:
As part of the new water supply scheme, a 37-km long water pipeline with a diameter of 2500-mm has been installed so far. The final phase is currently underway, with 850 meters of work remaining. A total of 70 pipes will be laid. This process is extremely complex, and the Municipal Commissioner, G Sreekanth, on Wednesday, has instructed that the work be completed as quickly as possible.
The first phase of the new water supply scheme, which was expected to provide 200 MLD of water by the first week of May, has faced delays. Several tasks, including work on the Jack Well at Jayakwadi Dam, pipeline installation, water pump installation, a dedicated feeder from MSEDCL, butterfly valves on the pipeline, and surge tanks at three locations, are still pending. On Wednesday, the civic chief provided an update on the current status of the project. Installing the 2500-mm diameter pipeline has been a major challenge, and work has been completed for 37 km out of the total 39 km. Only 750 meters of work remain, but this work is very complicated, causing the delay. He has instructed that the remaining work be completed within the next 23 days. It is expected that the Jack Well slab will be completed by the end of April.
Water Treatment Plant
A 26 MLD capacity water treatment plant is being set up at Pharola for the 900-mm diameter pipeline. The civic chief ordered to complete the work by May 15. Due to the lack of a water treatment plant, the CSMC has not been able to provide additional water to the city.
