Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: A newly elected corporator beat up the defeated candidate and his supporter in the Beed Bypass on Wednesday over making a complaint about more than two children. This ensuing brawl between the two groups created tension in the area for some time.

It may be noted that a complaint was filed alleging that a newly elected corporator had more than two children. The defeated candidate, along with his supporters, who were returning after demanding birth certificates from the school regarding the children, were intercepted on the road and assaulted by the newly elected corporator and his supporters.

Meanwhile, a case was not been registered at the Satara police station until late at night. According to sources, a defeated candidate from a Prabhag in the Beed Bypass area had filed a complaint against a newly elected corporator from the same Prabhag, alleging that he had more than two children. An inquiry into this complaint is currently underway.

The complainant had gone to the school of the newly elected corporator's children to request birth certificates to collect evidence in connection with this complaint.

While they were returning via the Beed Bypass, the newly elected corporator intercepted them near Patel Lawns. A verbal altercation ensued, leading to a violent fight involving five to seven people. Workers from both groups were injured in the fight. The police gave them medical memos and sent them to the government hospital.

Later, a crowd of 50 to 70 supporters gathered at the Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), prompting the Begumpura police to rush to the scene. Subsequently, some of the injured, along with the defeated candidate and the newly elected corporator, were admitted to a private hospital.

Since the statements of the injured had not been recorded until late at night, a case was not registered at the Satara police station.
