No information on the number of workers tested positive for Covid

Aurangabad, May 13:

The state government had given permission to the industries to continue their work even though there was a second lockdown in the state. However, some trade unions had called for a lockdown in the industrial area as workers are increasingly getting infected with coronavirus. In particular, the administration does not have any independent information on the exact number of workers who have contracted coronavirus and the number of deaths in the district so far. The MIDC, which has allowed industries to operate, the deputy commissioner of labor office nor the office of the joint director of industries, is not aware of the number.

Last year, there was a nationwide lockdown due to Covid-19, after which industries were allowed to start their business on terms and conditions during the unlock. Even now, in the second wave, industries have been allowed to operate. However, there is a condition of limited presence of workers and provision of transportation was imposed on the industries. Flying squads were set up under the guidance of the district collector. However, no action has been taken against any industries since last year. There have been many cases of infection among workers in many industries since last year. Many workers have lost their lives and their families have been affected. However, there is an atmosphere of resentment among the workers that the government departments are unaware of the exact number of affected workers and the number of deaths.
