No proposal for renaming Aurangabad clarifies divisional administration

Aurangabad, Dec 31:

No proposal for renaming the city has been sent to the Center or the state government in recent days, the divisional administration said. In March 2020, the state government had sought some information from the administration about the current situation regarding renaming Aurangabad as ''Sambhajinagar''. But no new information has been requested.

The administration informed that the government had sought information about the status of petition no. 5565/1995 in the court regarding the renaming of the city. Information was also sought about the no-objection certificates of the other departments including the resolution of the corporation was requested by the government through the departmental administration. This information was sought during the time of the then district collector Uday Chaudhary. As Chaudhary was abroad for training, the then additional district collector Bhaskar Palve had informed the divisional administration about the information. The divisional administration had sent the information to the government. The divisional commissionerate did not give any new comment in the information received from the collectorate. This was not a renaming proposal, it was just information, the administration has clarified.

What divisional commissioner informed

Divisional commissioner Sunil Kendrekar said that no such information has come to the divisional administration from the government. Approximately in March, the government had only asked for information about the court and other NOCs. The information was collected from the collector office and sent to the government.
