Aurangabad, May 5:

The Corona patients positivity rate has decreased in the past few days. The maximum 30 percent positivity rate achieved in the Aurangabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) jurisdiction and 26 percent in the rural areas of the district have come down to around 16 percent in the beginning of May. Although, the number of patients is seen less, it is because of the less Corona tests, the experts opined.

The zilla parishad (ZP) had clarified that the stress will be paid on tracing more patients through contracts tracing. However, the tests have reduced this week and hence the positivity rate has also decreased. Hence, there is a need to increase the tests to gain control over the Corona situation.

Moreover, the results of RTPCR tests showed more positivity than the antigen tests. The positivity rate of RTPCR on April 15 was 16.65 and 9.87 of the antigen tests. Similarly, the positivity rate of RTPCR on May 1 was 25.47 and 8.33 of the antigen tests.

ZP CEO Mangesh Gondawale had directed the health officers to conduct 100 tests daily at each centre. However, the response in the rural is not very satisfactory. Around 4,500 tests are expected daily in the rural areas but actually around 3000 tests are being conducted daily in which around 450 persons are reported positive, the health department sources said.
