Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: A students' union alleged that the remains of various animals and birds from the Zoology Department's museum on the campus of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University are being stolen and used for witchcraft and superstition.

In a memorandum submitted to the university, Sachin Nikam and Rahul Wadmare from the alleged and brought to the attention of the administration towards the serious matter that the claws, feathers and organs of the remains of a bird protected under the Wildlife Act, mainly owls, were removed from the museum.

“The remains and bones of different s animals and birds have been preserved for the study of students in the Zoology Department. Since the various organs of some animals and birds are valuable, they have a high price in the black market. Therefore, they can be misused for superstitious activities like witchcraft. There is a question over the security of the museum. Most of the shelves in the Zoology Department have no locks,” they alleged.
