Police commissionerate issues 3700 e-passes

Aurangabad, April 28:

The state government has announced a strict lockdown with relaxations for essential services from April 22 till April 30.

During this period, the people were allowed to travel within the district only for emergency reasons. They were also allowed to travel out of the district to other districts and states only by obtaining the e-passes from the police commissionerate. The applicants on medical, essential reasons and for attending last rites obtained the e-passes.

Since April 22, the commissionerate of police received 5500 applications for e-passes. However, the administration sanctioned 3300 e-passes while 1800 were rejected by April 28, the sources said.

The applicants had to apply online on the website covid19.mhpolice.in.

Similarly, if the applicants in case of having any problems while obtaining the e-passes had to contact the authorized officers of the areas of the respective zones where they are living.

DCP Nikesh Khatmode – Patil is the competent officer for the Zone - 1, under his jurisdiction City Chowk, Kranti Chowk, Vedantnagar, Begumpura, Cantonment, Waluj MIDC, Waluj and Daulatabad police stations are included.

Similarly, DCP Deepak Girhe is the competent officer for Zone II, while Cidco, Cidco MIDC, Jinsi, Harsul, Mukundwadi, Jawaharnagar, Satara, Pundliknagar, Satara and Osmanpura police station come under his jurisdiction.

The applications were rejected due to insufficient information and without valid reasons, the sources said. During the first lockdown also such passes were issues to the residents willing to go out of district and to other states. In all, 1,39,784 residents were given e-passes between April 21, 2020 and August 10, 2020 to go out of the district while 48,282 applications were rejected. Around 1,500 e-passes were issued daily.
