Aurangabad, May 6:

An inter-state gang notorious for burgling jewellery stores is suspected to have arrived in the state. Against this backdrop, police began a series of meetings of all the bullion merchants in the city to warn against the gang.

Police received information about this from confidential sources four days ago. Taking serious note of this information, the senior police officials directed all the policemen in the city to convene a meeting of the gold and silver shop owners in their area and warn them about this gang, the source said. The gang is said to consist of eight to ten members. The gang members stay in a medium class hotel so that the police do not suspect them. As per police, the members break in through the back wall of the shop and cut the jewellery vault with a gas cutter and take all the loot. Police received a photograph of one of the suspected criminals in the gang. In addition, police officers are instructing shopkeepers to install CCTV cameras and appoint security guards for the security of the shop.
