Poor vaccination percentage in rural sector worries health admin; city records 31.42 pc

Aurangabad, July 10:

The vaccination drive has started in the rural parts of the district, but it failed to gain momentum as expected. The vaccination percentage of the city is 31.42 pc, while the percentage of vaccine of the rural sector (nine tehsils) is between 13.30 pc and 19.36 pc. The vaccination drive started in January 2021 by vaccinating healthcare workers, frontline workers, citizens of age 60 years and above, 45 years and above and now 18 years to 44 years have been started. The vaccination is administered through 73 centres in the rural parts of the district.

A total of 9.22 lakh citizens in the district have been vaccinated, so far. Of which, 7.22 lakh persons had taken the first dose and 1.99 lakh had taken the second dose. The total percentage of the first dose vaccine is 21.91 pc in the district, according to the health administration.

31.42 pc vaccination in AMC limit

There is a target of vaccinating 11.76 lakh citizens in the city. Of which, 3.69 lakh had taken their first dose. The percentage of vaccination is 31.42 pc.
